About
Michael Rodriguez
My first love is shooting Cosplay (the art of costume-making – primarily from anime, comics and video games), which I was introduced to at Comic-Con International and later at Anime Expo. Cosplay photography, for me, is colorful costumes, dynamic angles and people truly bringing their characters to life, both with their expressions and their bare hands!
Personality Portraits is a term I coined to cover a new genre of photography I have been working at. Personality Portraits work in tandem with the headshot, but they are not headshots themselves. They are best exemplified with my ever-popular photo of The Radnerds, taken in 2009. My photography is moving in this direction and I’m waiting for the rest of the world to catch on.
I have made a name for myself partly by associating with Robert Welkner of COIN-OP TV and other video game-centric personalities and websites, including busygamer.com, Video Games Live!, The Gamers United and more.

In addition to my current duties at BlankLogo – assisting on photoshoots, make-up artist, hair stylist and second photographer – I am a photographer in my own right with over six years in photography behind me. Most of that work was done in a studio setting, creating portraits of couples and families.
While Cosplaying at Phoenix ComicCon in 2009 I was asked by Michael to do a shoot. I took his card and we stayed in contact online, eventually becoming friends and finding we had many skills in common. Upon my relocation to Los Angeles, I was asked to join BlankLogo Photography, making it a team effort.
Since joining BlankLogo, I have concentrated on finding new clients, improving turnaround and coming up with new, creative ways to sell BlankLogo.
BlankLogo’s most recent clients are:
Busy Gamer – busygamer.com
COIN-OP TV – coin-op.tv
Cosplay Deviants – cosplaydeviants.com
La’Tik Boutique – shoplatik.com
Mark Barron Bowen – capitalcrewintl.com

Heya,
It’s Kate – we met last weekend at Balboa Park, I was dressed up in blue with that crayon yellow wig
Thanks for giving me your card. I’ll be interested to see the photos when you put them up – thanks for taking them! It’s too bad the cherry blossoms were so hard to find. If you’re going to any of the cons or cosplay events around SoCal this summer, hopefully I’ll see you there!
Congratulations on the trailer posted on the front page – it looks great. As a coincidence, I used to work with all the GT guys before they were bought by MTV. I think I’m actually in a couple of the old gameplay videos.
